When making a short-term Schengen application from Turkey, first determine the main destination, then the purpose of travel and the official application channel of that country in Turkey. The general short stay limit is 90 days in any 180-day period; Your visa may be issued for a shorter period of time.

Application steps

  1. Identify the country of your main travel purpose or longest stay. If purpose and duration are equal, apply to the first country of entry.
  2. Open the list of documents published by the relevant consulate for Türkiye and the authorized application center.
  3. Prepare the form, passport, travel health insurance, accommodation, transportation and financing documents according to your travel plan.
  4. Apply through authorized channel; Complete the required biometrics and document submission and follow up with the application reference.

How to apply to the right Schengen country?

For single-country travel, the representation of that country is taken as basis. If there is more than one country, the main purpose of the trip or longest stay determines the application. If the purpose and duration are equal, the first country of entry is taken into account. This choice should not be based solely on finding an appointment; The form, reservations and travel narrative must show the same plan.

Although Schengen has common rules, the authorized application center in Turkey, regional authority, local document list and appointment method may vary depending on the country. On the application day, re-check the relevant consulate and the EU Delegation to Türkiye links.

Difference between tourist, commercial and visit applications

The tourist file explains the trip plan and how the expenses will be covered. Commercial file; It should show the activity, such as a meeting, fair or customer visit, together with the sending company and the inviting organization. Visiting family or friends may highlight the invitation and accommodation arrangement.

A short-term business visa is not a work permit. When choosing a travel purpose, the appropriate national category should be examined separately if there is an intention to work for pay, for long education or to settle in the country.

Document logic in Schengen file

The list of documents varies depending on the person and the representative office. The core file usually brings together the passport and form, as well as evidence explaining transportation, accommodation, travel health insurance, financing and ties to return to Turkey. Supporting documents for employee, business owner, student, retiree, sponsored applicant and child are not the same.

A powerful file is not just a file containing many documents. Dates, travel purpose, income movements, permission letter and reservations must be consistent with each other. Explain the actual budget and source of the trip rather than making up one universal “minimum balance” for unexplained money movements.

Fees, biometry and decision duration

Standard consular fee is €90 for adults and €45 for children from 6 to 12 years; Children under the age of six are exempt from tuition. Exemptions may be available. Application center service fee, courier, photography or consultancy are not the same item as this official fee.

Biometrics and processing process is carried out according to personal history and official instructions. General processing guidance normally states 15 calendar days, with an extension of up to 45 days in cases where additional review is required. This period does not include the period of finding an appointment and is not a guarantee of results.

Previous visa, rejection and Cascade rating

Proper use of previous visas is one of the important contexts of the new file; does not in itself constitute a guarantee of approval. If there is an old rejection, the justification in the rejection letter should be read, and the changed conditions and additional evidence should be clearly shown in the new application.

Turkey-specific Cascade regulation defines longer multiple-entry visa tiers over eligible past visas and time windows. It is not an automatic right or a five-year uninterrupted stay. You can use the detailed guide and calculator from the link on this page.

Fee summary

Standard fee 90 €; €45 for children under 6–12 years old. Children under the age of six are exempt from tuition. Application center services may be added to the total cost.

Niche questions and answers

Does a 90-day visa mean I can stay for 90 days?

No. The validity dates of the visa, the number of entries and the allowed day of stay are read together. The general cap is 90 days in any 180-day period.

Can I get a long visa to the first application?

The consulate determines the duration. Cascade evaluation is based on the legal use of past visas; The first application does not automatically entitle you to a long visa.

Is the only document list enough to all countries?

No. Travel purpose, employment status and local regulations of the applied country may require additional documentation.

Does an appointment accelerate the result of buying?

No. Appointment sales outside the official channel do not improve decision time or outcome.

What should I do if there are different dates in documents?

The form must show the same travel plan with flight, accommodation, permit and insurance dates. If there is a real change, it should be announced and the documents updated before the application.

Does showing a sponsor remove the need to explain my personal situation?

No. Sponsor discloses funding; The applicant's travel purpose, personal circumstances and return order are also evaluated.

Does it strengthen the file to get a refunded ticket?

Non-refundable purchase does not create a right to a visa decision. If the official order accepts reservations, it is better not to create financial risks without getting the result.
